The "Repsol Team" arrived in Mauritania with 50 Invacare Atlas Lite wheelchairs to distribute to local people.
Dakar Solidario is a humanitarian association that leverages the opportunity presented by the Dakar rally to offer free transport of medical equipment to local people that live next to the notorious race tracks. This year, the organisation chose a Barcelona-based Invacare dealer to supply them with materials. They selected 50 Invacare Atlas Lite wheelchairs and dozens of other vital Invacare products such as walking frames.
Although the 2008 event was cancelled due to security issues in Mauritania, three trucks still left Lisbon on the first day of the rally. Several newspapers announced their event-free arrival in Mauritania and the successful distribution of Invacare products.
